So about 2 years ago I got hit with a false DWI in NYC (passed breathalyzer test cops still lied and claimed DWI). But that's another story. Currently I purchased a used Landrover Disco 2. Geico gave me a sweet deal @ $1430/6 months until they ran the DMV report and saw my DWI from 2 years ago. Now my 6 month rate is $3700/6 months. That price is completely rediculous and unaffordable (according to my pockets). Therefore, my question, should I just do long term car rental? I mean I have a super sweet discount that rivals employees discounts @ National and Enterprise Rentals. I'm thinking I could just rent on a month to month basis for less than $3700/every 6 months. The added benefits would be new year car models and the option to trade it in for any vehicle I choose for an entire month. Plus the gas would be less than the Landrovers V8 premium requirement. Do I need to be on someone's auto insurance in order to get my driver's license?

I'm in my 30s and I want to get my driver's license. I had my permit years ago, but I never kept it up just because I always thought it was a hassle to get my license. People would tell me it would cost hundreds of dollars to get my license. So I personally didn't know, but I want to know for sure. After I get my permit, I know you have to wait a week, but as for auto insurance, do I need to be on someone's auto policy? Also if I don't have a car yet, how can I take the driving test? The reason I ask because I see so many people who never had cars who get driver's license just like that. I've even see immigrants with license and they don't even come to America with cars, so how do they do it?

I applied to Medical but they are taking forever. I think I might already be in my second trimester but have not seen a doctor, so I have no idea. I lost my job but my husband works for the county here in California. His paycheck shows a gross of 1517 every two weeks but this is because the county is weird and includes his crappy insurance as his earnings. I got a quote from Geico, which is the best I could find, on a car that I'm thinking about purchasing and financing. The car is a 1996 Mazda Miata with 80,000 miles on it. Geico gave me a quote for $882 for six months, thats $147 a month and $1764 a year. What the heck?! I'm 18 and don't understand why insurance is that expensive.
